Antoine Picon is a professor of the History of Architecture and Technology and Co-Director of Doctoral Programs (PhD &DDes) at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He teaches in the history of architecture and technology.

Today, no architectural practice could function without digital technology. The drastic revolution of technology has triggered different reactions, from enthusiasm to criticism. However, it is now past the stage of debating whether digital technology is good or bad. We now need to focus on the effect it is having on the architectural industry and the direction architecture is taking.

‘Digital Culture in Architecture’ is about the importance of digital technologies in design and implementation and the influence of digital culture. Digital tools offer new possibilities that were unimaginable just a few years ago. Some features of digital technology in architecture can only be properly understood in a historical perspective. The book goes in depth about the history of digital technology because to be able to improve technology further we need to know why and how it evolved in to what it is today.
